Usages: Including public and private mode The public mode like GSM network functions as a cellular phone through network carriers The major application for private mode is homebox mode. In this mode functioning as a cordless phone PHS handset can talk to each other through a homebox set which is like a base station for the cellular network Therefore PHS can operate as a cell phone through public mode and as a cordless phone through private homebox mode
